The importance of selecting the right bath tub

Dev Office FishpondImage by Zach Klein via Flickr

By jorge fernandez

People often underestimate the importance of selecting our the right bath tub. Surprisingly, most people spend a large amount of their time in their bathrooms.

If you are rennovating or building a custom home, you should not hesitate on spending the correct amount of time on your bathtub. There are several things to keep in mind when you are selecting the right bath tub. These things include, but are not limited to the color of the bathtub, the size of the bathtub and the features that come with the bathtub.

First, the color of the bathtub. You should coordinate the color of your bathtub with the color of your bathroom and/or bedroom. You have so many colors to choose from and you are no longer limited to just the white porcelain bathtub anymore. These colors vary from black, red, pink, gold to the more traditional off-white or tan colors.

The second thing you will need to choose is the size of the bathtub. You might be limited to size and space so you will need to take these limitations into consideration. If you are lucky enough to not be limited to size, there are some amazing choices when it comes to two-person bathtubs. But remember, the larger the size of the bathtub, the more water you will use. Whatever size you choose, always be aware that the size is large enough to support your entire body.

Finally, you will need to consider the extra features of the bathtub you select. One of the great things about bathtubs in this day and age is that there are so many different features that come with the bathtubs. A few of the standard features that have been around for some time now are typical jets or whirlpools. However, the market now offers multiple features with bathtubs such as walk-in bath tubs, free standing tubs and traditional Japanese deep bathtubs that come with mini massagers. I have become a big fan of the walk-in tubs which are basically tubs that have a door that opens and you then walk through the door and then the door closes with a water-tight sealant that prevents any leakage. The walk-in tubs are great for those with handicaps or those who are senior citizens.

I think most of us will agree that a big long soak inside a tub is a great way to finish off the day after working hard or playing sports. Therefore, before you select a tub, be sure to take the above items into consideration and do not skimp on your quality of life!

Do You Get Enough Fluids In Your Diet?

Orange juice.Image via Wikipedia

By Veronika Plesky

Diets, especially those that concentrate on weight loss, often concentrate on what to eat. But fluids are a major part of any healthy, harmonious diet as well. Runners know this well, but the same rules apply to anyone curious about optimum health.

The human body consists of approx. 60% water. All of the biochemical responses within our body demand water. In other words; water is a must. That probably doesn't come as a surprise, but it might surprise you how easy it is to have a deficit.

Nor is it quite good enough to simply wait until you are thirsty to address your fluid demand. Elevated internal body temperature, high heart rate and poor motor performance set in when your body has experienced only a 3% weight loss from water loss.

Your body can lose about 2-3 liters of water a day, even when you are at rest, and that's in a cool enviroment.

Regrettably many of the so called sport drinks are full of sugar. While not bad in temperance in greater concentration the so called " sport drink " just becomes another soda, albeit without the bubbles.

Fruit juices can be an efficient way of getting required fluid. But keep in mind that drinks with carbs slow the body's rate of absorption of water. Here too, the amount of sugar needs to be monitored.

Caffeine drinks aren't inevitably unhealthy. In fact, in temperance, caffeine has been shown to have definite health benefits. But it's also a diuretic, a substance that increases urine output. Drinking lots of coffee can actually boost dehydration. Studies in which participants drank about 6 cups per day (642 mg/day) experienced a 3% loss of body water.

Similarly, alcohol in moderate amounts is beneficial. Red wine has antioxidants. Even beer is healthy, since some of the health effects are due to alcohol alone and hops are good for you. But they do tend also to dehydrate. They're not a exchange for the total water needed daily.

Your body require several types of nutrients all day long. Water happens to an important part of them. So don't forget about the liquid nutrient.

Why Have Permeable Landscaping In Your Wilmington DE Garden

Shredded wood used as mulch. This type of mulc...Image via Wikipedia

By Jim Carpenter

In Wilmington, DE there are numerous companies who now offer landscaping services, but selecting the one to meet your own particular requirements may prove difficult. The first thing you can do is ask friends or family if they have any particular landscaping Wilmington DE contractor that they can recommend that you use.

When looking for a landscape gardening service and your friends or family are unable to recommend, then look for those who do permeable landscaping. This is a great way of ensuring that your garden looks great throughout the year as it helps to ensure that plenty of water and air are able to penetrate the soil. The more air and water that penetrates the soil in which your plants grow the more nutrients they will get.

Generally these kinds of gardens will have lots of trees, plants and rocks as well as other manmade or natural materials in them. It is using such items within the make up of your garden will help the soil beneath to breathe properly once more.

Too often today in order to keep maintenance down to a minimum in the garden people prefer to include impermeable surfaces within it. The items we are talking about are paving slabs, patios and other solid forms that does not allow water and air to penetrate the soil beneath.

Having permeable landscaping in your garden has other benefits as well. One of these being that it actually helps to prevent soil erosion occurring as the plants and mulch through the establishment of good root structure. So the chances of it eroding away when it rains is greatly reduced.

When considering having this type of landscaping done in your garden by a landscaping Wilmington DE contractor you need to spend time with them planning what it is you want. A good landscape gardening contractor will be more than willing to spend time and listen to what you have to say along with making their own suggestions to meet your particular requirements. One thing they may suggest is the planting of several plants together which need quite a lot of water at any one time. Doing this actually means you have to use less water in order to keep the plants looking good and healthy.

Selecting the right trees, shrubs and man made or natural structures can also be of benefit to your home and your health as well. The right ones will help to modify the climate around it and this could drastically affect how much heat the house retains in the winter and how much remains outside during the summer. Certainly the right kind of planting around your home could reduce your winter heating bills by as much as 25%.

Also using a good quality reputable landscaping Wilmington DE contractor could increase the value of your home as well. On average a home that has well planned and executed landscaping the value of it can increase by as much as 7 ? percent. Plus it can also reduce just how long the house stays on the market if you consider selling by between 5 and 6 weeks.

Learn To Boil Eggs The many ways to Boil Eggs

Closeup of the yolk in a hard-boiled egg.Image via Wikipedia

By Bengare Kasba

Before an egg can be boiled, some rules have to be observed and adhered to. These rules include: refrigerated eggs should never be boiled due to the excessively low temperature that would lead to cracking once exposed to hot water. It is always imperative to always use a kitchen timer rather than depend on memory or guess work. Over-boiling eggs is not recommended because the texture may become rubbery while the yolk turns blackish. When eggs are very fresh, the timing should be allowed an additional 30 seconds.

It is recommendable to use saucepans to spoil eggs because this guarantees that they do not roll around hence avoiding cracking. Boiling eggs requires water that is simmering gently rather than that which is boiling quite fast. This is mainly because of the collection of air on an egg pocket located on its wide end during the boiling process. This eventually leads to pressure buildup which causes cracking. To counter this, a pinprick is used on the rounded exterior of the shell to ensure the steam is freed.

Soft-boiling eggs require the availability of a saucepan which should contain adequate simmering water just enough to ensure coverage of the eggs by " inch. Lowering of the eggs into the bubbling water should be quite gently and a tablespoon should be used for this purpose. The timer can henceforth be set and the eggs permitted to simmer for a minute before moving the pan and changing the setting of the timer. When set for six minutes a soft yolk and a wobbly white is produced, while seven minutes produces a white that is entirely set and a firmer yolk.

It is a tricky and sensitive process to peel hard-boiled eggs and this is particularly crucial when the eggs are rather fresh. For eggs to be boiled in this fashion, the minimum period required before they are packed is five days. The saucepan for holding the boiling eggs should be adequate enough to hold water that covers the eggs by " inch.

Once the water is successfully simmering, the timer should be reset to seven or six minutes and this is largely dependent on how much the user wants them cooked. Cold running water is preferably used to quickly cool the eggs and this generally takes a minute. Two minutes in the cold water is adequate to cool ideally.

How To Remove Spray Paint On Car Finish - Cars Spray Painting

Spray paintingImage by blmurch via Flickr

by Mario Goldstein

Spray paint can end up on your car several different ways. One it can be an over spray from another area that you are painting on the car. Two it could be an accident that somehow the spray got on it. Or you decided to spray paint the car yourself, then didn't like it or made a mistake.

How tough a job it is going to be to remove it will depend on a lot of factors. First, you need to determine the type of paint. Hopefully it will be a water based paint which is much easier to deal with. All you will most likely have to do here is wash the area down well with soapy water. Now if it is an oil based paint then it makes things a bit more difficult. Then the other dilemma may be you don?t even know what kind of paint it is.

First of all, there are several types of paint. It could be lacquer or acrylic. It could even be enamel but this isn?t as popular as it used to be. If your original paint on your car happens to be enamel then if the accidental spray paint is lacquer or acrylic will make the enamel paint look wrinkled. Unfortunately, the only solution in this case will be to scrape the area clean and then repaint it to match the cars original color.

If you are fortunate enough to have an original finish of acrylic or lacquer and enamel paint has been sprayed on top of it, there won?t be any wrinkles to the original. You want to determine if the paint is enamel, so here is what you do.

Take any paint thinner, kerosene, gasoline or turpentine and apply a small amount to a clean white cloth. Now very lightly rub over the paint you want to remove. If you see the paint color being transferred to the cloth, then its enamel. If the cloth remains clear then its acrylic or lacquer. If it did turn out to be enamel then just continue to lightly clean off the residue of the paint.

So if you have ended up with either lacquer or acrylic being the culprit then you will need to go and buy the finest grade of rubbing compound on the market for car finishes. Take a hand sized white cloth and lightly moisten it with some kerosene or turpentine. Just enough to dampen the cloth, as it prevents the compound from caking, and makes the abrasive finer, which results in a better finish. Patience will be the virtue here, as you must keep inspecting the area you are working on so you don?t remove or damage the original finish of the car. Work in small circular motions with gentle pressure. Keep checking the color of the paint on the cloth. Keep using different parts of the cloth, so your cloth stays fairly clean, and you are not just putting the paint back on again.

Naturally, the best solution of all would be not to get the paint on the car at all. Accidents do happen though and fortunately for this particular one there is a solution.

Valeting and Interior Car Detailing

by Bobbie McKee

Having a car these days is no longer considered a luxury. If you live in the US, it is a necessity to have a car. So when you already have a car, you need to take good care of it through the interior car detailing and car valeting.

Let's look into interior car detailing. This is not a very difficult task because you can do this yourself. To start of, check the carpets of the car. Try to remove all the stains on the car carpet using a brush and a stain remover. But before you remove the stain, you need to vacuum it first. For the mild stains, get a spray bottle and dilute the solution inside it.

Don't spray too much so that mildew can be avoided. After the stains are removed, let the carpet dry completely. Don't forget to clean the floor mats of your car. You can use a rigid or stiff brush to clean the floor mat and take it outside to dry completely.

Second, you can look into the upholstery. Vacuum all the car seats and if you find any stains, remove it just like how you removed the carpet stains. Leave the doors of the car open to dry the seats.

Check the door jambs. You can use soapy solutions to clean the plastic and metal parts of the car door. Use a rag to dry the door jambs. If you find tougher stains, you can use brushes or Q-tips to remove it.

The car windows should be cleaned with a glass cleaner using soapy solutions. Make sure that you dry the window thoroughly and erase streaks.

The dashboard can also contain dirt and stains. Remember not to spray any cleaning solution or water on the dashboard of your car. Put cleaning solutions on the cleaning tools and then cautiously clean the buttons and knobs. Everything should be dried thoroughly.

So you see, interior car detailing is not as hard as you think. You can even do it yourself. There are also car kits that you can purchase if you want to do the task yourself. You can invest on the car kits and maintain the cleanliness of your car without paying for any detailing service. Some car detailing services charge high fees and so if you want to avoid such high fees, do the interior car detailing on your own. Just follow the steps mentioned earlier and your car will always look brand new.

Car valeting is another service offered to car owners. If you need valet, you can simply contact the company that offers such service. Inquire at your local state business registry and you will be able to find the car valeting services available in your area. You can contact them by phone or if you want, you can visit their officeand take your car with you.Special occasions sometimes require your car to be more presentable and formal and perhaps a car valet can make your car appear like new again.

Interior car detailing and valeting can be a DIY activity. Try it yourself and you will be more attached to your car. You will love every moment of it and you even brag about it to your friends let them see how you care for your precious car. If you need to choose a car valeting and detailing service provider, make sure that you choose only the best.
