Proper lighting arrangements are very essential for your home, both functionally and aesthetically. The lighting should be such that they should enhance the beauty of the place and should also be comfortable while working. So, understand your needs first and then decide for the most suitable lights for your home. Here are some useful lighting tips.

The common lights used in homes are: incandescent and florescent lights. Light bulbs come under incandescent lighting whereas tubes come under florescent lighting. Incandescent light sources produce yellow light and are not an energy efficient option.

You can control amount of lighting by using dimmer switches. Florescent lighting is soft and gives shadow free white light. It is economically easy to use than incandescent lighting.

Reading lamps should be at the height of shoulder. If you write with your right hand, place the lamp at left side and vice-versa if you are left handed. This way it gives you a shadow free light while working. Use ion-max lamp for reading as it produces natural lighting and reduces stress from eyes.

Kitchen lighting is very crucial to make cooking experience a pleasure. Using ceiling lights in kitchen has become old fashioned. Now a day various arrangements like lighting on counter tops, sinks, cabinets are available. And even you can use task lighting to enlighten a particular place in your kitchen.

Different types of lighting such as task lighting, general lighting and accent lighting are used in living room. Task lighting is used for reading whereas general lighting is used for watching television. Accent lighting is used to focus on any artwork or decorative pieces.

Use chandeliers, candles, colorful silk lanterns and ambient lighting in dining room as they look good when they are enlightened. These lightings make the room aesthetically attractive and give tranquil effects in dining room.

Right lighting arrangements is equally important for a bedroom. The lighting arrangements should be such that it creates a warm and a cozy feel where you can relax. You can place lamps on both sides of the bed for a romantic feel. You can even use chandeliers. Up lights and hanging lights is also a popular choice for bedrooms.
