Decorating Your Little Boys' Room With Themes

By Eric Bash

It's as easy as using your imagination when it comes to decorating for a boy. You may want to use a theme to decorate with because this is the easiest way to get what you want and what they like. You can choose an artist, a sports hero, or even a fable.

Eye on the Ball: You really can't go wrong when you choose a sports theme. Boys like that. Balls are easy to decorate with. They look great in a room with a colorful rug. If your child has a favorite team then this will make it even easier to get the decor right.

Rainbow Bright - If your child loves to express the artist in himself then you will want to help him feel inspired. Try to use colors like gold, blue, green, and other bright colors. For the carpet use bright wild colors. Paint each shelf a different color. The point is to add as much color as you can to the room without going overboard.

Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho - That's right, your little boy may love to be a pirate. Decorate with a scene from "Treasure Island" or "Peter Pan" or even "Pirates of the Caribbean". When decorating with this theme you need to start with an ocean blue. Then add your sailing shops and netting. Don't forget to paint a porthole on the wall. Decorate around the room with treasure boxes so he can store little treasures away.

A Knight's tale: If you are gifted with a talent for art then you will love decorating with A Knight's Tale. You can paint the castle walls and add flying pennants on the walls. Add a blue sky on the ceiling. Read The Tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable to get your inspiration. Place curtains around his bed to enhance the look.

Do the Locomotion: Grown-ups think of them as merely transportation, but youngsters see trains (and planes and automobiles) as the purveyors of wonder. You can choose a single theme or combine them for an overall transportation look. Most of these designs use bright primary colors, especially for traffic signals and railroad crossings. Some kind of transportation border around the walls works well. Beds shaped like cars, planes and trains are all available.

Ride 'em, Cowboy: The wild west can live forever in your child's heart when you decorate in the western theme. You can purchase wallpaper that is western themed or borders. Buy a cowboy hat and more.
