The Wii is probably the most popular gaming consoles nowadays. But what makes the Wii so great? One main reason i the fact that the Wii is desigend for group plays. There are numerous titles to choose from and new games hit the market frequently. In addition the Wii is the least expensive console and the control systems along with the games are appealing to many age groups.

Although the Wii console itself is not that expensive compared to other gaming consoles one big drawback is the cost of Wii games. You have to spend around $50 for a single Wii games. This is a huge amount of money for a lot of people and only few can afford to buy regular Wii games on a frequent base. This is why some smart people figured out how to program their own Wii games using the same design software and plaform the Wii uses. These homebrew games cannot be found in stores. The only way to get your hands on Wii homebrew games is by downloading them off the internet.

Preparing your Wii console to play homebrew games is not really difficult. Basically you will need three things. First you need a SD card. You can get it in a local computer store or on Amazon. Once your SD card is ready, you need to get the so called Twilight hack and install it on your Wii. This will enable you to install the Wii homebrew channel. Mainly that's it. After that you will be able to play hoembrew games, watch DVDs on your Wii console and a lot more.

Once the homebrew channel is installed it is possible to download and run a large variety of homebrew programs without having to download from the computer and then transfer the data.
