You can easily find packages that offer tours of Rome, London, Paris, or Madrid. But many of Europe's most stunning locales are slighted by tourists.
Budapest, for example, is one of Europe's premiere cities. You can view breathtaking natural beauty or exquisite architecture. You can tour countless museums or visit the city's unique natural attractions. This "City of the Spas" and "Queen of the Danube" is one of the most entrancing cities in the world. Even the residents are continually - and pleasantly - surprised at how lovely and diverse their city is.
The History
If you don't spend your whole vacation staring at the gorgeous scenery, you can visit some of Budapest's wonderful attractions.
Visit the Aquincum Museum and see the 2000 year old ruins of Aquincum, a city in the Roman Empire. If you love history, you will get your fill in Budapest.
Or check out the Budapest History Museum and Castle Museum. You'll find a large collection detailing Budapest's archaeological contribution to the Roman times.
Check out the famed railway system at the Transport Museum. It is one of the oldest collections of its kind. The variety and scope of history present in these museums is staggering. You could visit time and again and still learn something new.
Part of that varied history is the story of Budapest's Jewish population, and visitors can explore this too.
The Holocaust impacted this city tremendously, as around 500,000 Jewish people were transported from Budapest to Auschwitz. In this city of overwhelming beauty, the curious tourist will become humbled as to the tragedy that transpired within this country.
The Unique Landscape of Budapest
If you have aches and pains, try visiting one of Budapest's hot springs. These natural sources of warm water are said to have great healing qualities.
Each spring is unique in the eyes of the citizens, and like the greater city, each has its own story to tell. "The City of Spas" draws travelers from the world over in search of healing and relaxation.
Even in the icy midst of winter, you'll find travelers at the Szechenyi Bath. This is Budapest's premiere spring, and in fact, the largest bathing complex in Europe. Its hot, deep well soothes and warms even in frigid air.
As if soaking in a natural, outdoor thermal bath weren't remarkable enough, Budapest also boasts beautiful caves. Carved by the springs, these offer yet one more amazing attraction to explore. Visiting Budapest is like visiting a paradise.
Tours are available through some of the caves. This is truly a vacation that appeals to the mind and the body.
Paris, Rome, London, and Barcelona are beautiful cities, but if you want a European tour unlike any other, Budapest should be your destination.
Expose yourself to this rich, fantastic, breathtaking and historically profound country, and your life will change forever.
