Acai Berry As An Antioxidant Source

In Central and South America a fruit with powerful antioxidant properties grows. The acai berry has been called a miracle fruit for health. It is about the same size as a grape but is a darker purple color. The acai berry is grown on the acai palm and grows in clusters of 3 " 5 berries. This little berry is one of the best sources of antioxidants known to man.

Free radicals can cause aging and cellular mutation as well as other diseases. Antioxidants are what protect the body from these free radicals. The main antioxidant in acai berry that does the protecting is anthocyacin. This powerful antioxidant fights off free radicals.

Anthocyacin is also found in red wine, and it contains thirty three times more anthocyacins than the grape, making it a more powerful antioxidant. The fruit pulp is also rich in polyphenols, another source of antioxidants for the body.

Antioxidants and the the nutrients do much more than just fight off aging. They also fight bacteria, repair tissue damage, and boost your immune system.

Acai berry is also used for medicinal purposes. The acai is used for dyeing in MRIs, anti-inflammatorys, antibacterials, and antimutagenics.

The acai berry really does contain so many vitamins and minerals that are very beneficial for your body. When you drink acai berry you are making your body healthier and happier as well as fighting off those harmful free radicals.
