Tips for The Best Wedding Photography

By Peter Pendley

The phrase Wedding Photography is a pretty self-explanatory procedure which is now a big part of a wedding ceremony, in a procedure that intends to cover all areas of the wedding day. The process has also turned into a business, with many photography businesses specialising in recording a newlywed couple's special day.

There are many ways of going about this, with two main, commonly used approaches, which are traditional and photo journalistic. The traditional method is based on the 'photo op' parts of the big day, including guest images, the exchanging of the vows, and cake cutting being amongst the main ones. Most of these are 'posed' of photos, or at least set up in a way that makes a picture an easy operation, and there is thus a great amount of co-ordination from the photographer. The photojournalistic approach, as the name implies, is largely based on the methods that a newspaper crew will take photos, that are more 'action shots'. This means that the photographer will stay out of the way and look for the picture opportunities themselves. The above mentioned methods are the two extremes, and a regular method will incorporate the best of both.

People involved with wedding photography are normally looking to greater things in that field of work, and the work that they do is sometimes the stepping stone towards a big job in photography and journalism. There are some wedding photographers, however, that are already big names, and due to that great respect are assigned to more high-profile ceremonies, that would not come cheap. Also worth noting is the quality of equipment that has improved over time, so with better equipment and techniques should come better pictures, but it will ordinarily be the quality of the photographer and the stature of the company that determines the equipment that they use.

As a business, wedding photography has really come to life since the technology involved developed to that extent, and companies will make their money by offering their services for hire to the couple for a set cost. This allows greater flexibility in the options available to both sides, as previous methods of this business were dependant on photographers showing up uninvited to take pictures, and then selling them to the couple at a later date. Nowadays though, there is enough interaction before, during, and after the wedding to provide a solid service, which is now sometimes seen as of the same importance as dresses, rings, and vehicles when it comes to planning the big day.

The prices of a wedding photography package would be based on various factors, including but not limited to the type of bundle, quality of photographer/equipment/photos, travel costs, and other expenses. Since many images are taken, the buyers will usually opt for an album, but sometimes go for other presentation methods instead of or as well as this, such as a single large picture, a 'video album', or even an online order service. This means that the end price can greatly vary, but a basic service will usually cost in the region of 700.

Any listed cost will not be likely to put off the buyers, though, as nearly all marriages will somewhere use a photography service, due to the seeming need to have as much rememberence of the day as possible. Wedding Photography is now a profitable industry, and also one that will never lose this factor, due to the importance of weddings in society.
