Activities in Queenstown New Zealand

Queenstown is situated in the South Island of New Zealand, set within a stunning natural alpine setting. Lakes and mountains on the doorstep provide the playground for the many exciting things to see and do on your holiday.

From Tandem Paragliding to Heliskiing, Bungy Jumping, River Jet-boating, White Water Raftingand mountain hikes - if you like your activities served extreme, there is plenty to choose from in Queenstown.

Although Queenstown is renowned as the Worlds best playground for adrenaline junkies it certainly offers much more then just high-action, extreme activities. If self-pampering and relaxing is more your vacation style, you will find plenty to keep you relaxed and satisfied in this fabulous area of the Southern Lakes region. There are fabulous restaurants, health and beauty spa's, nature walks, international golf courses, fly fishing, shopping, cultural tours, tranquil lake cruises and much more.

Queenstown is not just a Summer resort, in winter is it becomes a wonderland. It has a great range of easily accessed ski fields including Coronet Peak, Cardrona Alpine Resort, The Remarkables Ski Area and Treble Cone. If you want world class Heliskiing then try Harris Mountain Heliski.

If want to put a line through an item on your bucket list go and see the guys at AJ Hackett Bungy. Choose from the classic and original jump at the Kawarau Bridge or if you are really feeling brave then off the monster jump above the Nevis Canyon.

A ride up the Skyline Gondola for 220 degree panorama views including Coronet Peak and Lake Wakatipu offers a more relaxing alternative. Once there you also have available a restaurant, cafe, luge, walks and hikes. A unique experience is the Haka Pa which offers a taste of Maori cultural. It includes a formal welcome to their Maori Village, concert performance and traditional Maori feast.

Another great option is a scenic Lake Wakatipu cruise on board the TSS Earnslaw Vintage Steamship - a wonderful way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Queenstown is truly an incredible and unique destination. The opportunities for excitement or relaxation are unrivalled. Where else in the world in a single day can you jump off a bridge then take a gondola ride up a mountain before racing back down on a Luge. By now it is time for lunch so enjoy a meal at an award winning restaurant before a spot of fishing and then a trip travelling at break-neck speed down the Shotover River on a jet boat.
