Permaset Aqua is the revolutionary water based ink from Colormaker - a 100% solvent free ink with unsurpassed opacity and brightness.
Upon opening a jar of Permaset Aqua, what is most apparent is a lack of overpowering odor. Upon feeling a garment printed using the new Aqua, its drape and softness of handle become quite clear. This softness is due to industry leading work in polymer technology - also leading to outstanding adhesion to both conventional and synthetic fabrics.
Typically when printers have switched from a pvc-based screen printing ink to a water-based system, they lost color opacity. They chose health and environmental responsibility or color yield, but generally couldn't attain both. Through meticulous formulating and a rigorous pigment selection process, Colormaker has created an ink with unsurpassed color opacity and brightness.
Wash & Wearability
Generally, a soft print displays poor durability to wash tests.
Colormaker has engineered a polymer that both soft & incredibly strong. Permaset Aqua prints on cotton lycra have been run through thirty industrial wash cycles at 140 degrees F. A test so extreme that it caused significant damage to the unprinted area of the fiber. Protected by the ink polymer, the printed area showed virtually no damage.
Additive Free
Permaset Aqua's ultra-fine polymer creates excellent adhesion on both conventional and synthetic fabrics without any additives. Many times, a printer applies an additive for one job based on the fabric he will use. The more additives that are employed, the further corrupt the ink becomes.
Without the use of additives, the new Aqua product performs beautifully on cotton, wool synthetics, and even stretch fabrics - All with good adhesion, softness, and wash durability.
Color Opacity
Pigments have been meticulously selected for light fastness. All pigments score significantly on the Blue Wool Scale.
Selecting its colors from the edges of the color wheel gives Permaset Aqua tones maximum brightness and vibrancy. This allows the smallest range to be able to create the maximum number of colors.
By engineering down to sub-micron particle size, Permaset Aqua has created a print that is amazingly soft. The small particle allows a much more permanent bind, while creating color yield that is higher and with increased transparency.
Finer particles allow printers to use a higher mesh screen. By increasing color yield, less ink is required to create the same color opacity. The result is two-fold. One, less ink laydown means a softer print. Secondly, less ink to run through a drying chamber means less of an impact on the environment.
Open Time
Lack of open screen time is one of the biggest hurdles many printers face when switching from PVC-based ink to a water-based system. While Permaset cannot replicate the plastic-like qualities of a plastisol, Colormaker has made significant strides in this area.
Conclusion
Permaset Aqua Fabric Ink gives printers a tool that not only adheres to the strictest environmental standards, but creates prints of exceptional softness and durability on a wide range of synthetic and natural garments. It's versatility virtually eliminates the need for additives - all with formaldehyde levels safe for use on intimate apparel and baby garments.
