It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of creating your first resume or even updating an old one. You\'ll notice, too, that there are expensive resume services and software vendors just begging for your business.

However, you can build an attractive resume without using any special software at all so don\'t fall for slick sales letters that claim you must have their software in order to produce a great resume. However, you will save a great deal of money by creating your own resume.

You can use your word processor to make a resume. Anyone with a computer loaded with basic word processing software can make a resume that will really stand out. Microsoft Word is considered to be one of the well known and popular word processing software programs available but other programs work just as well. These other programs often cost a great deal less but work just as well. The only difference is some of the less expensive software packages may not have built in templates to make it easy to make a resume.

However, to take advantage of this you will have to have access to the Internet. You can use free online programs such as openoffice.org to make a resume. This program is free to use and can not only help you make a resume that will stand out but can also meet all of your word processing needs.

You may find these types of programs work well for you as soon as you download the software. However, some of these programs allow users to make suggestions about improvements to the software.
